In the above picture is my husband Dave, myself, and our two daughters, Cate (9) and Lucy (2).
Welcome to my site! My name is Tara Andersson
I am currently enrolled in California Sate University San Marcos Single Subject Credential Program. Upon graduation in May, 2015, I will be receiving a Foundational Level Science (6-8 grades) and Chemistry (9-12th grade) Teaching Credential, and potentially adding on Mathematics and Special Education!
A bit about myself and my journey in life thus far...
I've been married to my husband Dave for 10 years and we have two beautiful daughters (as you can see from the pictures). Cate, our oldest is 9 and is in the 4rd grade at Hope Elementary in Carlsbad. Cate enjoys dancing, loves school and watching YouTube videos about anything cooking/baking related. Our youngest daughter, Lucy is 2 years old and she loves animals, Curious George books and she loves to explore and play outside.
I started my educational journey in 1998 when I attended college at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle. I graduated in 2002 with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Chemistry. I would say my permanent address while in college was any one of the many libraries on campus, as I was studying hard all the time. Upon graduation, I worked in a laboratory at the UW, where we were trying to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. While I enjoyed the experience in the laboratory, it was not for me. Shortly after leaving the lab I married my husband and we welcomed our first daughter, Cate, just a year later. Since then I have been lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom (with a part-time job here and there). While I'm enjoying every minute of being with my kiddos, I feel like there is more for me in this life...enter teaching.
Since my daughter started school just over four years ago, I have been actively involved in her school, either through her classroom or through the PTA. While volunteering in her classrooms I developed a deep appreciation (and a bit of an admiration) for her teachers. The amount of time and love they put into their classroom everyday; their hard work and dedication to each and every student (even the ones that couldn't keep their bottoms or mouths closed) was amazing to me, and I wanted a part of it! Over the course of the past few years I have decided to begin my journey pursuing a career in teaching secondary science. I'm ready to combine my love for science and educating and share it with my future students. I am currently gearing up to become a secondary science educator and still deciding if that will take me to Middle School General Science and/or High School Chemistry.
Stay tuned as my journey will most definitely continue...and please wish my family and I luck and we venture out on this new endeavor that will forever change our lives and I'm sure will touch many, many student's lives as well. -Tara
