I had to go to Joann's for a couple of reasons. First I needed to purchase a pair of fabric scissors (they are expensive) and after viewing quite a few YouTube videos I had a couple of questions about how to place the pattern on my fabric before I started cutting. It seemed that I needed more fabric, but the pattern stated I should be good with the amount? Also, I still had unanswered questions about reading the pattern and I knew I needed additional support that was specific to my pattern, because the YouTube videos I found were great, I was unable to transfer the information to my pattern that was a bit different looking. I am such a rookie. So I decided to take in my cut pattern, instructions and fabric and talk to someone at Jo-Ann's.
Then enters Karina at Jo-Ann's in Oceanside! She is the BEST! Not only did she show me how to place my patterns onto my fabric but she also informed me that i had purchased the wrong blend of fabric (that was needed for the pattern--WHOOPS!), and that I needed to preshrink the fabric prior to cutting/sewing. Wow, was she helpful. The YouTube videos did help me a lot as I had very specific questions about my pattern/cutting, so they were helpful but no online resource I've found beats Karina! (See-no matter what happens with the internet and education we will always need teachers and with sewing Karina was mine today)!!
I cannot say enough great things about Karina and the support she provided me! Thank you!!
Moving forward, I have more of a direction and a ton more confidence. Both my new and old fabric is in the washing machine now, getting ready to be cut!
